'Cubist Trad' provides a novel experimental take on Irish Trad, using ‘interactive’ Max devices that respond to nuances in the musician’s performance. Unlike conventional effects, the devices do not just add new timbres, but impact the performance itself by responding in real time in an unpredictable manner to the performer. The output is fed back during performance, prompting an intuitive improvised response that creates both novel sonic combinations and unique performances.  

Wavamatics is currently working with 6 experimental Trad musicians to create the first Cubist Trad album, planned for release in late 2026:
